Bonus!!

As many of you know, I have been a surfer since 1980. Here is a sweet little edit by Patagonia on the physics of nose riding!

Richard Feynman happens to be one of my only physics heroes. He played bongo drums, did his tutorials in pole dancing bars, and also was amazing at explaining the extremely complex in a simple way, making him probably the best lecturer of physics ever. Now you can watch his lectures absolutely free on you tube! Here is his lecture on gravitation to get you going!!

On the news feed you can find the latest from Randall Monroe’s XKCD comics. He also does a what if series where he answers physics questions such as ‘would a toaster still work in a freezer?’. A select few have made it to video. I particularly like the base ball pitched at 0.9c becoming a thermonuclear event and obliterating the batter and the surrounding city!

Click the link below and have a go at wiping out your home town with an asteroid. I keep obliterating Plymouth and Tiverton. The stats are pretty impressive but probably don’t take into account the destruction of the nuclear submarines in Plymouth dockyard’s contribution to the death toll.
